This was the first novel in a new series, and Keith was looking for some visual direction to brand the the books as they came out. While the story involves a lighthouse, my earlier cover attempts were too general in their location and Keith requested the actual lighthouse. I found some older images, and the location, a scrubby, somewhat unattractive island, had nothing special to merit a cover image. So I went down a path that evolved into a flat concept with restrained color palette and was really quite pleased by the results. So was Keith. I'm posting this over two years after the book came out, having just recently finished the followup that features a suspiciously abandoned yacht.
